Grade 11 CARE for Grade 7

Grade 11 students who took the "road less traveled' started sharing some songs and prayers with the young Grade 7 students of the Junior High School Community yesterday. Action songs were taught to the Grade 7 students who actively participated in the singing and dancing. Then sharing of prayer experiences was done in a group facilitated by the Grade 11 students. The encounter is part of the exposure and training of the Grade 11 students in preparation for their CARE apostolate to the public school pupils this coming September.

CL Teachers unite in Prayer

Integrated school CL teachers attended a day of Lasallian Interior prayer facilitated by Br. Jun Estrellas, FSC, at the DLSL Retreat Complex. It was a great opportunity for all of us to renew our commitment to the Lord through centering prayer, meditation on God's word, and awareness of the promptings of the Holy Spirit in the daily grinds of our life as Lasallian educators.

It reminded me to seek God in stillness for God said: Be still, and know that I am God (Psalm 46:10 ) and to persevere in praying amidst the difficulties and challenges that I face in my everyday life.God is indeed good and merciful for He continues to give strength to those who come to Him at all times.

Thank you Br. Jun for sharing your time with us. Hope to meet you again in the next level of our Lasallian journey.

Brief History of CARE

Brief History of CARE

De La Salle-Lipa started to render catechetical instruction to its nearby public schools by the year 1962 with the help of the Church group called CCD or the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine which took care of the training volunteer students as catechists and the brother moderators which guided the students in doing their tasks of sharing the gospel to pupils in the assigned public schools.
By the year 1979, Br. Armin Luistro, FSC, the campus minister of De La Salle-Lipa at that time changed the name of the catechism group from CCD to CARE or Catechetical And Religious Emissaries.  He also formed an organization called ALSA or Alyansang Lasalista ng Sambayanan which aimed to develop students and teachers to become active members of the Church.  This group was composed of the Chorale that takes care of the singing in the mass, the Acolytes that assist the priest in the celebration of the Mass and the CARE group that catechizes the pupils in the public schools.  The Religion Department of the De La Salle-Lipa was then assigned to implement all the program and activities of the CARE.
CARE was the offered to Level 10 students by the year 2000 as part of their outreach activity under the supervision of the Religion Department and Ms. Cornelia Santos, the appointed liaison officer.
It was in school year 2009-2010 that CARE was offered to Level 9 cream classes as a part of their Christian Living 9 curriculum.  The said program was initiated by Mr. Raul Paras who handled both of the class.
After a year of a successful implementation, Mr. Raul Paras recommended to Br. Bong Servando, FSC, the integration of CARE apostolate to the Christian Living curriculum of Grade 9 community.
